FAQs
When is the 2025 retreat scheduled?
The 7-night, 8-day week begins on Sunday June 1, and runs through Sunday, June 8. We will meet you at Kastrup - Copenhagen Airport on June 1 and will bring you to Drakamöllan. After the week-long retreat, we will see you safely back to the Airport on the afternoon of Sunday, June 8, or at another time on that day depending on your departing flight.
What is the cost of the retreat?
Both artists working with Janet and friends or family who are joining will pay $9,500 each for the week. This fee includes the following:
Lodging at the unique and stunning environment of Drakamöllan Hotel, curated for epicurean delights, relaxation, stunning natural beauty, and comfort
Breakfast, lunch, Fika (a mid afternoon coffee and treat), and dinner with the group
One to two daily drawing and painting sessions with Janet depending on the day’s scheduled activities
All exclusive transportation for the week from entry in Copenhagen to return to the airport. This includes group tours and movement about the area for art making and a handful of nearby adventures for non-artists.
Entry to the Wanås Center for Art and the Wanås Sculpture Park that’s followed by a sumptuous dinner at the Wanås Restaurant Hotel, a small boutique restaurant focusing on food from the farm, the forest, and local growers
All professional art supplies for painting and drawing
Convenient carrying case to assist in bringing artwork home
Three early morning yoga sessions
Optional side trips/adventures for non artists
What is not included in the fee?
Airfare to and return from Copenhagen Airport
Travel insurance, which we ask you to purchase for the trip
What will non-artists do during the week?
Accompanying friends or family members will have choices for side trips and adventures should they wish to move beyond the relaxing grounds of Drakamöllan. We’ll ask questions about what you like to do in the preliminary questionnaire so that the non-artist can explore the area based on their interests.
What is the age range on the retreat?
We kindly ask that young children remain at home. The week is suitable for adults and mature teenagers.
What if I’m a complete beginner at making art?
You’ll find yourself in good hands as Janet is a highly skilled teacher and has a long history of working with both absolute beginners and established artists. She’s also led many retreats. You’ll be encouraged to make progress from whatever level you begin, and you’re sure to be a stronger and happier painter or drawer by week’s end. If you want more information about Janet you can visit her website at janetjacobs.com.
What if I don’t know whether I want to paint or draw?
All professional supplies for drawing and painting will be on hand for participants to move in the direction that feels best for them. Janet will have a conversation with each participant before the trip to discuss materials, history with art making, and interests.
