Learn more about art and the joy of creating in this landscape
Artists will relax with a week of lessons geared to each participant at all levels in some of the most beautiful areas Sweden has to offer. We’ll start very easily with drawing exercises designed to settle one in this new environment, and move on to warm up studies in drawing from observation. We continue based on the things in nature that resonate with each of us the most. There’s always an agenda for building technical skill, and finding ways to relax and fall into one’s own delightful world of looking and being.
We’ll stay in the Drakamöllan landscape for the first few days and draw or paint from the creek, the open and gentle rolling hills, the horses or the garden or the old farmhouse. We’ll also visit other natural locations in the area with art materials and chairs, and take away lunch from the gourmet kitchen. During the week we’ve planned an expedition to the Wanås Konst; Center for Art, an interactive sculpture park with indoor and outdoor exhibitions, where we’ll look at the work of international artists in this richly creative setting.. At the end of most days we’ll meet briefly with your work to share, discuss, and learn from each other.
Making art has the most enjoyable effect of allowing us to simply be in the moment and enjoy the process of looking, and making. This landscape has been chosen to encourage ease, simplicity, and pleasure.
Family or Friends who are joining the artist are welcome to tour the area with Niko, the program’s co-founder, based on their interests. Possibilities will range from walking cobblestoned villages, playing tennis on European red clay, going to stunning white beaches, walking in the woods or visiting cultural attractions. There’s also a spa nearby.
